Vizada harnesses humanitarian expertise to support TSF

TSF
Vizada is a key partner to Télécoms Sans Frontières (TSF), the leading humanitarian NGO specialised in emergency telecommunications.

TSF teams can intervene anywhere in the world in less than 48 hours following a catastrophe or conflict. With a 24-hour monitoring centre and operational bases in France, Nicaragua and Thailand, TSF's emergency aid crews establish telecoms centres on site in a matter of minutes. These provide broadband Internet, phone and fax lines and technical assistance with the help of Vizada’s mobile satellite solutions.

Vizada develops satellite voice and data communications solutions (email, internet, videoconferencing, etc.) that enable TSF employees to deploy telecoms centers in the 24 hour period following a major incident. These centers provide relief to local populations, enable them to communicate with family and friends, locate each other more easily and reassure and raise morale in crisis situations.

In 2007 Vizada supported TSF in ten different missions around the world including in Bangladesh following a cyclone in the country in November 2007, and in Mexico during the same month after heavy flooding affected over one million inhabitants.

With Vizada’s support, TSF employees sent more than 30 000 megabytes of data via satellite during humanitarian missions in 2007, totally approximately 300 hours’ satellite communications time. TSF assisted 150 agencies in their missions, including the UN and local authorities, and provided communications support to thousands of affected families.

Vizada has extensive experience accompanying NGOs and humanitarian organisations in places where conflict or natural disaster cause a breakdown in traditional communications. Click here to find out more.
