Vizada today announced that Iridium sales have spiked 70 percent due to the new batch activation capability now available for Iridium subscribers using The Source®, Vizada’s Web-based account management tool. The batch activation feature speeds response times in provisioning satellite equipment and service for hurricane relief efforts by enabling bulk activation of Iridium SIM cards in a matter of minutes allowing large quantities of phones to be activated at one time. Vizada developed and implemented this important new tool in time for the beginning of hurricane season.
Using the new capability Vizada service provider, Globafone of New Hampshire, was able to quickly respond to FEMA’s urgent request for a bulk order of more than 200 Iridium phones readily equipping relief workers dispatched to the recent Texas hurricane.
Vizada is the only Iridium reseller that has the ability to allow for batch activations in its Web-based information management system, The Source. Already this innovation is being used extensively by Vizada service partners.
With Hurricane season in full force, Vizada has experienced a 70 percent increase in the activations over the prior month. By utilizing the batch activation feature, Vizada Service Partners activated nearly 500 Iridium subscribers in less than 48 hours.
“The need to communicate and transmit data quickly is a critical part of our satcom business, and we are always looking for better ways to allow our customers and service providers to achieve that goal,” said Bob Baker, president and chief operating officer of Vizada Americas. “This new capability answers a direct need from customers, and we saw it put to valuable use during recent natural disasters.”
The batch activation feature available via The Source® is exclusively available through Vizada Service Providers.
